What Safe Space Is
Safe Space is a dedicated, confidential platform where team members can speak openly about work issues, concerns, ideas, or experiences. It is designed to create a supportive environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and safe to raise issues without fear of judgement or negative consequences.
What You Can Use Safe Space For
Safe Space is here for anything that affects your work, wellbeing, or the quality of care we provide. This includes:
Concerns about patient safety
Issues affecting staff wellbeing
Team or cultural concerns
Bullying, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour
Operational problems or barriers
Ideas for improvement
Anything that doesn’t feel right

How Safe Space Works
Safe Space allows you to:
- Raise a concern or share an issue
- Choose which manager or leader you want to speak with
- Have a private, supportive conversation
- Receive updates on actions taken
- See how your feedback leads to learning and improvement
You stay in control of the conversation. You choose who listens.
Choosing a Manager to Listen
Choose someone you feel comfortable speaking to
When you submit something through Safe Space, you can select:
A manager you trust
A senior leader
A Freedom to Speak Up Guardian
HR or wellbeing support
This gives you the freedom to speak to someone you feel comfortable with.
What Managers Will Do
Managers who receive a Safe Space concern will:
Managers are trained to respond with empathy, fairness, and professionalism.
What Happens After You Speak Up
Every Safe Space submission is:
Reviewed
Risk-assessed
Logged confidentially
Assigned to the manager you selected
Investigated proportionately
Acted upon where needed
You will be kept informed (unless you choose to remain anonymous).
Learning and Improvement
Safe Space is not just about raising concerns—it’s about improving the organisation.
We use Safe Space feedback to:
Identify themes and trends
Improve policies and processes
Strengthen team culture
Enhance patient safety
Support staff wellbeing
Share learning across the service (confidentially)
Your voice helps shape a safer, stronger, and more supportive workplace.
Your Safety and Protection
You will never be treated unfairly for speaking up.
Retaliation, bullying, or victimisation of anyone who uses Safe Space is not tolerated and will be dealt with formally.
